A New Year of Landscape Design…2018

By Michael McGarr

What a great year for our landscape design team so far!!! and we aren’t quite finished yet so hold the champagne, at least until this Friday!

The team have had the pleasure of working with some great people on some great garden design projects over the last 12 months, and this year we have produced landscape design, architecture and planning for clients right across Lancashire in the Ribble Valley, Lostock, Rivington and Heaton in Bolton, Aughton, Southport, Prestwich, and also in Cheshire including Nantwich and Knutsford.

It has been fabulous to work with such great people who have such a positive outlook, allowing us to adopt refreshing approaches to garden design and build at their properties and commercial premises.

We have had a bumper year of awards too, and 2017 has seen us achieve a coveted Gold Medal, best Construction and best “future spaces” award at RHS Flowershow Tatton for 2101 which highlights abstract ecology and sustainability through landscape design in the form of a futuristic garden setting.

We also completed work on the fantastic Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley, Lancashire which was a real stand out garden design and build project for us. Enabling us to provide a sensory courtyard for the children and their parents to enjoy. We received donations from all sectors of the industry for this project and special thanks should go out to the following companies as it simply wouldn’t have been achievable without you!

S&G plant services, Ruttle plant, Pile Height / The Turf Group, Bradstone ,Kirkless demolition, RHF turf growers,  R Draper LTD , J Dickinson and Sons, Hedges direct, Rectory Garden Plants. Gorilla glue. Quantil.

We were also shortlisted for the Northern Design Awards in the “Commercial Landscaping” rubbing shoulders with architects and luxury housing developers in the process. Ultimately this is how we see us moving forward in 2018 . We are working with fewer clients each year and this enables us to have much more “hands on” pragmatic approach to our consultancy and project management business.

Our sustainable, contemporary approach to garden design and landscape architecture in our RHS garden 2101 show garden has highlighted what may be achieved in a commercial or luxury residential setting in terms of landscape ecology and contemporary design. Ecology and sustainability are ideologies we are encouraging our clients to think about moving forward into 2018 and we are busy working on new ways to help homeowners, developers and architects achieve beautiful, contemporary and sustainable landscapes and gardens.
